India has 65 million MSMEs. Most of them have a business.
Almost none of them have a brand. This is where that changes.

Open any marketplace. Walk into any modern trade store. Search your product category. Two hundred brands show up, same price, same claims, same buzzwords. Your potential customer scrolls past all of them, including you, and picks the one that feels familiar. Not better. Familiar.
This is the wall every MSME founder hits somewhere between 5 crore and 50 crore. You have a real product, real quality, real people behind it. But none of that is visible from the outside. So the market makes a decision for you. It labels you as just another option. And once that label sticks, no amount of discounting or advertising peels it off.
The problem is not your product. The problem is that nobody ever taught Indian MSME founders how to build a brand. Business coaches teach systems. Agencies execute visuals. Nobody sits with the founder and works on the thinking that comes before all of it.
That is the gap. That is what brand coaching fixes.
Every founder thinks branding can wait until revenue is stable. But your customer forms an opinion the moment they see your name, your packaging, or your social page. That first impression becomes a label. And labels, once set, are expensive to change.
Sadarbuksh, one of India’s most loved cafe chains, had to rename and rebrand entirely after a trademark dispute with Starbucks. Inventory stopped. Signage had to change. Years of recall, gone. Naming is not a creative decision. It is a legal and strategic one. And getting it wrong costs crores.
Crystal Pepsi was a cola. But it looked like a lemon soda. Customers were confused in three seconds and moved on. Your product can be exceptional but if the packaging, the name, or the positioning sends the wrong signal, the sale is lost before it begins. Clarity is not a design problem. It is a brand problem.
A brand lets you move off the discount rack permanently. When your positioning is clear and your identity is strong, customers stop comparing you on price and start choosing you on trust.
Your team, your clients, your vendors, your investors, all of them decide whether to back you within the first ninety seconds. Brand controls those ninety seconds. Every time.
The MSME that wins the next decade will not have the best salesperson. It will have the strongest brand. One that makes the right people come to you, ready to buy.
I started Beryl Agency with no formal design degree and no safety net. Over fifteen years, we built brands for 1,573 clients across 67 industries and 19 countries, from first-generation MSME founders to companies preparing for their next funding round. Every project taught me something a textbook never could.
Along the way I also co-founded what became one of India’s most respected design institutions, served on CII’s National Committee on Design Innovation and Design Policy, and worked with founders across manufacturing, retail, healthcare, technology, and consumer goods.
What I noticed after all of it is this. Every struggling MSME had a business. Every thriving one had a brand. The difference was never the product. It was always the thinking behind how that product showed up in the world.
That thinking is what I coach. Not design. Not marketing. The clarity that has to come before both.
