Librelle packaging is designed in a way to complete every woman’s unfulfilled secret desire of acceptance and quality of a sanitary napkin. With Librelle, we aimed to add up to the confidence of women who finds that the acceptance of menstruation and its related products is crucial. A product of Koko Tawa, Librelle has created a woman who is independent and finds strength in her femininity.
Librelle is a brainchild of Koko Tawa that aims to normalize sanitary napkin through its unique packaging and hygienic menstrual practice. Taboos and stigmas still surround sanitary napkins in various parts of the world. Considering the women who live in less privileged parts, the design of Librelle packaging helps to boosts the confidence and acceptance to carry a sanitary pad. When we came on board with Koko Tawa, we knew that this journey was going to be different than that we have been in the past. We analysed the challenges of women from different parts to come up with their solutions. The material and color of packaging were laid importance as they were the critical part of the common challenges. The exclusivity of the product makes it easy for women who find acceptance, strength, and acceptance in her femininity.
Together, we intended to normalize the sanitary napkins on the go. The design and materials used in packaging make it beneficial for women to carry and consume. Also, it benefits the seller.
We wanted to use strong material that could help to retain the fragrance and prohibit dust or germs to enter. The unique combination of aluminum and paper were pasted together to achieve the desired outcome. This ensures the long-held freshness and helps the fragrance to stay intact.
It was our intended effort to avoid the use of bright colors that would grab the eye-balls. As it is a basic necessity for a woman to carry the napkin on the go, we selected black color packaging with a splash of pink which adds a gentle touch to femininity. Unlike the bright colors as green, purple or orange the color was picked up in a way to avoid the attention and make the look luxurious yet affordable for the mass.
As the packet is used only on certain days of a month, we have exhibited a lid that can be opened or closed whenever needed. This helps the napkins stay away from dust and germs in a distinctive way. The lid is given pink color that adds the touch of femininity to the packet.
We took Librelle packaging as an opportunity to help and discover a way for the women in stress for some critical days of their lives. The challenges that the women encountered formed the base of the designing element. We opted for a strong base which was a mix of aluminum and paper that helps the napkins stay away from dust and germs keeping the fragrance intact. The second factor was the color as we intended to keep it away from all the attention that it gets due to bright colors. Hence, black was our way out to give the packet a surreal effect with some pink that added to the femininity. Our research about the challenges helped us to achieve the entire design and make the menstrual days as comfortable as the rest of them.
The designing element is taken forward by taking every part of the world into consideration. There are places where sanitarily napkins are still a taboo. On the other hand, some places have accepted women marking their place on the moon. Taking both these aspects, we have come up with a design that is acceptable in every part of the world.
While we were creating a unique design for the Librelle with an objective of safe and sanitary menstruation, we kept the logo of Koko Tawa aligned to the same idea. The logo has small inverted hearts touching each other, symbolizing a healthy life and nourishment. The benefits acquired is two-fold, to the seller and most importantly the consumer. The Liberelle woman will now walk with confidence, battling the stigmas and part and parcel of the days of menses successfully. With this, we hope we were successful in bringing a sense of acceptance and freedom to many lives of Librelle women, as they happily reported to us.
